CHEZ TONTON

A real Toulousain Treasure

If you are passing through our dear Pink City, it’s impossible to miss the famous Saint-Pierre Square where the mythical bar "Chez tonton" reigns.

 

The birth of a Toulouse emblem

Founded in 1958 by Léon Foudet "Le suspendu, Chez Léon known as Tonton, » became the famous "Chez Tonton, Pastis Ô Maître" in 1979 when it was bought by a young couple named Pierre Abadie and Françoise Pujo.

 

Legend has it that the concept of serving Pastis by the meter at "Chez Tonton" bar was created when a busy and thirsty customer placed the order. This was the beginning of 17 glasses of Pastis  served in one sitting.

To date, Pierre Abadie, has since passed away. Françoise, nicknamed «Mamie Françoise», who has been the owner of the property for 40 years, has become the idol of young and more mature people in Toulouse.

 

A bar and a timeless ambiance

Meters of pastis, mythical beers, unusual yellow decoration and themed evenings have gradually created  the unique atmosphere of « Chez Tonton.»

 

If you like French songs from the 80’s and you are looking for a warm, friendly, and above all festive atmosphere for your evenings, "Chez tonton" is for you.

The successful bar remains a favourite for a whole range of people from different social classes, origins and ages. Generations of students have walked these yellow walls. There will be many more to follow in their tracks.

 

« Chez Tonton » x « Stade Toulousain »

Since the opening of the 2018/2019 season of the Top 14 (professional rugby union club competition), "Chez Tonton" has become a private partner of the Stade Toulousain team.

 

The bar sponsors the student stands for five of the Top 14 and Champions Cup matches. The "Chez Tonton" team will therefore move to the "Ernest Wallon" stadium, at the heart of the  bleachers located at gate 9.There you will find the historical and festive atmosphere of the bar as soon as the doors open: waiters, bandas, decoration, songs, flags, entertainment, service in the stands...
