LES ABATTOIRS

The museum Les Abattoirs and the art fondation  Frac Occitanie Toulouse, inaugurated in 2000, are located on the site of the city's former slaughterhouses in the Saint-Cyprien district. Labelled "Musée de France", the institution's missions are the promotion, dissemination, and heritage promotion of modern and contemporary art.

The merger of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Regional Fund for Contemporary Art has enabled the development of two collections containing nearly 4000 works.

The modern collection, which focuses on artists active since the 1950s, has been enriched by the donations from Anthony Denney. The Georges Pompidou Center has also deposited La Dépouille du Minotaure en costume d'Arlequin (1936) created by Picasso in collaboration with Luis Fernández.

Since 2013, the Abattoirs has been developing a multidisciplinary programme (concerts, performances, screenings, etc.) that makes it a central place for living culture in the Toulouse metropolitan area.

In addition, you can enjoy a media library, a documentation centre, a restaurant, a bookseller and an auditorium.
Until you can make it there yourself, please enjoy my own personal collection of photos.
